Newborn Sleeping Nest Bed Review: Did It Actually Help Our Baby Sleep Better?
We purchased the Newborn Sleeping Nest Bed when our son was two weeks old, at the height of our desperation with daytime napping. He would sleep contentedly on someone's chest but wake immediately when placed on any flat surface.
The Problem We Were Solving
Our son had a strong preference for contact — essentially, he wanted to feel enclosed and connected to a warm body at all times. This is completely normal newborn behavior, but it made daytime rest for us nearly impossible.
First Use
First use result: we placed our son inside with a gentle shush and a swaddle, and he settled within two minutes — significantly faster than on his flat bassinet mattress. He slept for 45 minutes. For context, his previous longest daytime sleep on a flat surface was about 8 minutes. We were immediately sold.
Four Weeks of Results
Average nap duration in nest: 47 minutes. Average nap duration on flat surface: 18 minutes. That difference is significant for exhausted new parents.
Rating
Effectiveness: 9/10 — Significant improvement in daytime nap duration.
Safety: 9/10 — Firm base, appropriate sides, well-designed for supervised use.
Overall: 9/10 — Highly recommended for the first trimester of life.
